Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Mr. Hodgins graduated from the University of Windsor in 2006 and had been employed in the Catholic school system in Canada until moving to Michigan and becoming a U.S. citizen. He has taught elementary grades, as well as middle school and high school. Before teaching at Guardian Angels and Bishop Foley, Mr. Hodgins taught freshmen and senior theology at Detroit Cristo Rey High School in southwest Detroit. Mr. Hodgins has coached boys and girls sports including badminton, basketball, and soccer, but his real passion is Japanese martial arts. He has teaching licenses in several arts including Yoshinkan Aikido and Shoshin Yama Ryu Iaido. He indulges this passion by teaching on weekends at True Balance Martial Arts in Sterling Heights. A parishioner of Guardian Angels Catholic Community since he was married there in 2010, Mr. Hodgins enjoys enriching his theological education at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He and his wife Allison, a math teacher at Detroit Catholic Central High School, share a passion for Catholic education and are proud parents of a new Guardian Angels student, Callaghan, who will join the Young 3's class this year. Cal's sister Gwendolyn will have to wait a couple years to join the Guardian Angels student body since she was born in April 2018. Mr. Hodgins is proud to bring the love of God and the Church into his classroom at Guardian Angels School since the 2014-2015 school year.
